Saint-Gobain Gyproc National Trophy Thailand 2015 Winner Announcement

Bangkok – Thai Gypsum Products Public Company Limited, the manufacturer of leading gypsum innovations under the brand “Gyproc,” is delighted to announce the winners of Thailand’s inaugural Saint-Gobain Gyproc National Trophy Thailand 2558. The Trophy, one of the largest gypsum industry competitions, attracted a high caliber of competing entries across its innovation/sustainability, mixed-use/commercial and health/education/hotel categories, with top performing entries chosen by an honorable committee of gypsum experts and representatives from the construction industry. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), a 70,000sqm new build, was named as winner of the Innovation and Sustainability award; Bed by Cruise, a cruise ship-inspired hotel took top honors in the Mixed-use/commercial category; Prince Mahidol Hall A49, a dramatically styled educational building in Nakhon Pathom, was winner of the Segment Solutions (Health/education/hotel) category.

Stock Exchange of Thailand by Architects & Associates was nominated in the Innovation & Sustainability Category for its use of several Gyproc products, including Gyptone as used in the meeting room for acoustic absorption, and also to help to reduce echo as well as noise from outside the room; Gyproc Fire Stop Board designed to be used in fire exit applications which can resist fire up to 1-3 hours – a true life-saving product property; and Moisture Resistant board, a gypsum board developed for usage in wet and high-humidity areas such as in the rest rooms.

Bed by Cruise by Mr. Pramook Mooktaree and Mrs. Wajeeporn  Taneepan (Owners) was nominated in the Mixed Commercial Category for its use of Gyproc products selected for the renovation for ease of installation and fast install speed. Gyproc’s products are high quality, easier to remove for a new design, and with added flexibility so that gypsum board also be designed in a curved shape to deliver a more modern aesthetic. They included GypWall ROBUST, a wall system which has a high impact resistant gypsum board for applications where a more durable surface is required; GypWall Drytop, a wall system designed for bathroom applications; and Gyproc ThermalLine, a special Thermal Insulation board for ceiling systems.

Prince Mahidol Hall A49 by Architects 49 Limited Company was nominated in the Segment solutions Category. Prince Mahidol Hall has been designed as a world-class 2,000 seat theatre for Mahidol University’s Salaya campus. The hall space is designed to provide the best natural acoustics for opera or orchestral symphonies. Gyproc’s product offering included Gyproc Regular Board 12mm. 3 layer  + C Stud 62 , U Track 64, which was used extensively in the construction of the auditorium and rehearsal room; and Gyptone IG Quattro 41 Board  + ML50 chosen for its environmentally friendly properties.

The competition, open to a wide spectrum of gypsum industry stakeholders, attracted main contractors, owners, architects and installers, all of whom used Gyproc gypsum products in their selected entries. The winner in each of the three categories will go on to compete for the Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy in Prague with other contractors coming from over 45 different countries to compete. The project winner will have an opportunity to travel to Europe, and their project will be presented at the 10th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy in Prague, Czech Republic 2016. Runners-up received a traveling package to Sri Panwa, Phuket.
